Plan
PURPOSE
- Serve
as the unified voice for minority entrepreneurs in the State of
Arkansas;
- Advance
opportunities for minority entrepreneurs in the public and private
sectors;
- Work
across racial, ethnic and cultural barriers to promote greater
economic participation;
and
- Inform
and influence public policies on issues of critical importance
to the minority business community.

VISION STATEMENT
The Arkansas Minority Business Development Roundtable
aspires to be recognized as the leading provider of quality business
services to the Arkansas Minority business community.
AMBDR Market Segments
An assessment of the AMBDR customer base easily
classifies its service market into three
segments: pre-venture, start-up, and established businesses. This
segmentation allows the
AMBDR to better understand the varied needs of its clients in each
segment and how it
should allocate its resources in the future to meet the needs of
these segments efficiently and
accomplish the goals and objectives outlined in this strategic plan.
A. Pre-venture
Pre-Venture: Not in business-Members of this segment are primarily
individuals who
are interested in starting a business. They seek out AMBDR assistance
to acquire the
information and management skills necessary to start a business.
B. Start-up
Start-Up: 0-2 year-Members of this segment are primarily individuals
who are in the
process of starting a business or have recently started a new venture.
These
entrepreneurs seek out AMBDR assistance to acquire the information
and
management kills required to overcome the many hurdles present during
the
establishment of their business. This is a critical stage for businesses,
and one in
which AMBDR assistance can have a very large impact.
C. Established Businesses
Established: 2+year-These are small firms that are past the initial
start-up hurdles and
have been in business for over a year. They usually come to the
AMBDR when they
need assistance in growing their business or in dealing with a specific
issue or
problem. The AMBDR can increase the value of its service to this
market segment not
only by reacting to the particular issue for which they come to
the AMBDR for
assistance, but also by analyzing the company to identify additional
issues and
opportunities to help them grow and prosper.
